Step out for a Christmas Night in Stokey

Traders in Stoke Newington are pulling out all the stops for a festive late-night shopping event on Thursday December 13th and there’ll be mulled wine and fizz aplenty!

The event, which is being coordinated by the Local Buyers Club in partnership with local traders, will feature choirs, a Santa’s grotto, a fire engine for the kids, live music and a raffle benefiting charities helping people in poverty. The fun starts at 5.30pm and carries on till late.

Basil Fansa, of the Local Buyers Club, said: “Forget big high street chains – here is a chance for an authentic London shopping experience at independent shops which are brimming with character and full of unique gifts, many of which have been made or designed by local artists.”

Among the local businesses taking part are Earlybird Cards, Beaucatcher, Hub, Location Location, Kitchen Provisions, Ooh Lou Lou, The Last Crumb, Metal Crumble, Ryans Bar, The Prince, Nook, The Design Store, The Prince, Pictures and Light, The Twisted Fork, The Good Egg, Askew Eyewear, Prep, Meat N16, Archie Foal, The Rose and Crown, Andi's Wadadli Kitchen, Hamiltons, Botanique Workshop, and Sonia Taouhid.

Heidi Early of Earlybird added: “Last year’s late-night Christmas shopping in Stoke Newington was a really buzzing community event – everyone had a great night. This year even more traders are joining in and we’re planning a real party atmosphere. It’s our opportunity to thank customers for their support throughout the year, a chance for everyone to let their hair down and a great chance to get your Christmas shopping done.”

Traders have been donating top prizes to a raffle on the night, with proceeds going to Crisis, the Winter Toy & Food Appeal, and Solace. Prizes include a £200 voucher for Hub, lunch for two and prosecco at The Last Crumb, £50 to spend at Ivory, £50 to spend at Metal Crumble, two £50 vouchers for Beaucatcher, vouchers for Escocesa, The Last Crumb, Il Bacio, Rasa, Mescal, Stoke Newington Fruit & Veg and Shine. A £50 food and drink hamper from Whole Foods is also up for grabs and Earlybird Cards are donating £100 worth of vouchers and Christmas cards (split into four prizes valued at £25).
