The Local Buyers Club is fast becoming a go-to guide for those seeking dining and shopping experiences with more character, flavour, ethics and fun.

We just celebrated our first birthday and, as we looked through the massive list of wonderful businesses offering discounts to our members, we felt an enormous surge of happiness.

Whether you live in North or East London or are planning a visit, we dedicate our time to finding and promoting the best local and independent businesses – helping them compete against the big chains and making sure your experiences are high-quality and unique.

Two of the restaurants on our card are run by celebrity chefs Andi Oliver and Seb Holmes, who have each created their debut restaurants in this neighbourhood (Andi’s in Stoke Newington and Farang in Highbury Barn).

We offer discounts at the amazing Salut in Essex Road (rated among Time Out's top 50 London restaurants), WOLF (a neighbourhood Italian in Stoke Newington serving incredible food) and at Vivo in Upper Street (which has Islington’s coolest roof terrace).

We’ve got almost every nationality of food covered - Indian (check out Rola Wala’s incredible roti wraps), Burmese (Laphet, Shoreditch), the Balkans (Lacy Nook, Caribbean food at Rudie’s, Thai at Farang and Itto, Italian courtesy of Sood Family (Spitalfields), Trattoria N16 and Wolf, Vietnamese at Cay Tre (Hoxton) and Keu (Shorditch), French cuisine at Salut and even a taste of Scotland with Deeney’s amazing Macbeth haggis sandwich.

Café’s include the UK’s first ever magic café The Twisted Fork in Stoke Newington, where magicians are on hand every day with cool tricks for customers, Highness Café (voted London’s most-loved Café by Time Out readers), The Last Crumb in Stoke Newington – a stunning café with the best cakes around and The Green Room Café, tucked behind a flower shop in N16 with a large and lovely garden, Edith's house in Crouch End, Clissold House Café and Café Z, which serves delicious big brunches.

And if you’re after some liquid refreshment after all that food we’ve got that covered too – the area’s loveliest independent pubs and bars offering discounts to our cardholders include Off Broadway and The Cat & Mutton in London Fields, The Prince, the Clarence, the Red Lion and Ryans N16 in Stoke Newington, Bernstein's in Clapton and The Queens in Crouch End.

With two amazing independent cinemas on the books (The Rio in Dalston and The Arthouse in Crouch End) and Lucky Voice karaoke in Islington – we can help you have a fun night for less.

We’ve also tracked down the loveliest shops and have gotten to know the owners well – some of our favourites are Earlybird Cards in Stokey, lifestyle store Post in Green Lanes, Push Cycles and online The Curious Cockney is a brilliant way to support local makers. And we’ve wonderful butchers, fishmongers and greengrocers on the books too.

What is the Local Buyers Club?

We're on a mission to help you discover & support the best local & independent businesses.

We've negotiated discounts of up to 25% for our members at dozens of fantastic restaurants, shops, bars and businesses throughout North and East London. We help promote them and raise awareness of the advantages of shopping locally. We also organise and support community initiatives.

Join Local Buyers Club and, for just £12 per year, you'll be helping to support local business and you'll receive a discount card to use at any of the 100+ businesses listed on the site.
