Terms and Conditions

These are the terms and conditions (‘Terms’) you are agreeing to when you join (become a paid member of) the Local Buyers Club. By purchasing your membership of the Local Buyers Club, you agree to be bound by these Terms. Please read these Terms before making your purchase.

 

  • 'We', 'Our' 'Us' and 'The Club' means The Local Buyers Club

  • 'The Card' and 'Card' refers to the plastic Local Buyers Club membership card.

  • 'Membership' refers to membership of The Local Buyers Club

  • 'Participating Businesses' refer to businesss offering discounts through The Local Buyers Club

 

About Discounts

 

  • The Card may only be used at participating businesses as detailed on this website.  

  • Although every effort is made to ensure businesses offer discounts for a minimum period of one year, Participating Businesses may vary but we’ll endeavour to keep the list healthy and up-to-date.

  • Only one Local Buyers Club membership card may be used per transaction, though this may be to purchase one or multiple items.

  • Unless otherwise stated on individual store descriptions or unless the Participating Business exists solely as an online business, discounts are not valid online. They are only valid in participating stores.

  • Where the Participating Business exists solely as an online business, We will issue a discount code digitally, before the card is posted, for use at online checkout. Member discount codes must not be shared with other individuals or published online or offline. 

  • The Card must be presented at the point of sale in order to receive discounts.

  • Participating Businesses may choose not to accept the Local Buyers Club membership card in conjunction with store vouchers. 

  • The Card may not be used to purchase vouchers, gift cards or stamps at any of the participating venues.

  • The decision over whether discounts apply on Bank Holidays rests with Participating Businesses.

  • Unless otherwise stated, discounts offered through the Local Buyers Club may not be used in conjunction with any other in-store or online offers including sales or multi-buy offers.

  • To the best of our ability we choose quality and reputable Participating Businesses, however We are not liable for any shortcomings in your customer experience.

Your membership and card

  • Cards must be signed by the cardholder and dated.

  • The Card is valid for 12 months from the date of purchase, a new Card will be issued after a year upon receipt of repeat payment, when membership automatically renews.

  • The Card in whatever form is not transferable (may not be shared with friends or family), cannot be copied and can only be used by the member who is named on the Card. 

  • We are not liable for any loss arising from the member failing to ensure the safekeeping of the Card. 

  • If your Card is lost or stolen, please notify us at team@localbuyersclub.com; a replacement fee will apply.

  • Local Buyers Club members must have a valid postal and email address and be over the age of 16.

  • Local Buyers Club membership cards cannot be transferred, bought, sold or in anyway traded other than by local businesses in agreement with Local Buyers Club.

  • The Local Buyers Club membership card is not a credit card.

  • By purchasing The Card you agree to subscribe to our newsletter, which will keep you up to date with new businesses signing up, general updates or changes to the scheme. But you can unsubscribe via a link on the newsletter at any time.

  • Cards are valid for one year from the date of purchase.

  • Out of date cards will not be accepted by Participating Businesses.

  • The Local Buyers Club membership card is not refundable.

  • As an ongoing subscription service, your membership of The Club is automatically renewed at the end of your initial 12-month term and at the end of each subsequent term until cancelled.

  • To cancel your membership before it automatically renews, email team@localbuyersclub.com at least 24-hours before your current membership term ends. Refunds cannot be issued for any remaining membership term after payment for renewed membership has been taken. You can update your payment details by clicking here.

Data Protection

  • Your payment data is not stored by the Local Buyers Club but is handled via MoonClerk and Stripe.

  • Your data including email address, name and home address will be treated in the strictest of confidence and will not be shared with third parties.

  • Cardholders will be updated of new businesses joining the Local Buyers Club and other relevant information via email. These are sent with your consent, where required. You can opt out by emailing team@localbuyersclub.com or using the link on any of the emails we send.  

Liability

  • Though we try our best to make sure all external links are correct, we are not liable for the content of any third party website.

  • Offering memberships is at our discretion, we reserve the right to not issue membership or to terminate membership if you breach these Terms.

  • Copyright, trademarks and all other intellectual property rights within this website and the material distributed by The Local Buyers Club shall at all times remain with us or our licensors. Permission to use this material must be obtained in writing from us.  Reproducing, distributing, transmitting or exploiting our content for commercial gain is not permitted.

  • These terms and conditions replace all previous versions, are correct as of July 2017 and shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of England and any disputes will be decided only by the English courts. We reserve the rights to change these at any time on reasonable notice for legal, regulatory, business or policy reasons. Members who continue to participate in the scheme, following such a change, will be considered to have accepted the updated terms and conditions.

  • A person who is not a party to these terms and conditions shall have no right under the contract (Rights of Third Parties) Act 1999 to enforce any term of these terms and conditions. But this shall not affect any right or remedy of a third party which exists or is available apart from that Act.
