The world’s first magic café is expanding into retail.

The Twisted Fork in Stoke Newington is launching a magic shop on 4th May, offering tricks, magic sets, gadgets, optical illusions and more. The café will continue to run as usual.

Founder Richard Clark, who also runs an agency finding magicians for events, said the plan had always been to evolve the business.

He added: “I want the Twisted Fork to become a magnet that draws people to Stoke Newington. We’re the only magic shop for miles, we run regular shows and workshops and offer a complete experience. Our magicians will continue to perform in the café – now customers will be able to buy tricks and practise them at home and if there’s something they’re unsure of they can come back and one of our magicians will demonstrate it.

“The magic sets we’re selling will be suitable for kids or adults and they’d make great presents. We’re running an after-school Magic School on Monday evenings and are determined to open up the exciting world of magic to everybody.”

Richard, who is a Member of the Magic Circle has linked up with its Vice President Marvin Berglas, of Marvin’s Magic. His magic tricks are sold worldwide including stores such as Hamley’s and Harrods, and will now be stocked at The Twisted Fork.

Also for sale will be moving pictures, which Richard can make bespoke and optical illusions from around the world.

Marvin Berglas, creator of Marvin’s Magic, said: “It’s great to see our products now available at The amazing magic themed cafe The Twisted Fork. We like to encourage the magicians of tomorrow and promote good magic so I’d recommend a visit to see shows, magic theme parties and their magic school!”

Richard, 34, has been performing magic since the age of 17. While his four siblings followed professions like nursing and teaching, despite gaining a degree in film editing, Richard, who grew up in Chingford and Walthamstow, followed his passion for magic.

The menu at The Twisted Fork includes rainbow bagels, levitating avocados and delicious toasties and the coffee is ethical, aromatic and served by experienced baristas.
