Iconic tea towels fund good causes in Hackney

Independent retailer Know & Love is raising funds for good causes through the sale of specially-made tea towels.

Featuring designs by local artists, including Anna Hymas, Cressida Peever, and Tomartacus, the tea towels have raised more than £1,300 for the Clissold Park User Group, £450 Hackney Foodbank and funds for Stoke Newington Business Association.

Karen Sims, founder of Know & Love, said: “It started with a map of Clissold Park by Anna Hymas. I ordered 100 tea towels with this design and agreed to make a £3 donation for every one and they just flew off the shelves! When that happened, I realised we could extend it so I approached other artists and we set about fundraising for the SNBA and food bank too.

“They’re so popular. We have waiting lists!”

The initiative has helped fund mental health walks around Clissold Park and a new hedgerow there. The designs include iconic Hackney buildings, an illustrated map of Stoke Newington and the 73 bus in Church St.

Know & Love is a homeware store. It has been running since 2016 and opened in Church St in 2019. Everything they sell is made by people they know and love. Local Buyers Club members save 10%.

Great content! Learning doesn't always have to happen in a classroom. With helpful online resources and tools like pinterest video download, learners can explore new subjects at their own pace.

I discovered eggy car online through a forum recommendation. It's a good choice when you only have a few minutes and want a quick gameplay session.

It’s wonderful to see local art and small retail come together to fund vital Hackney community groups, and brands like kablora should take inspiration from this thoughtful, community-focused fundraising model.
