Milliner, designer and artist reunite for East London launch

Three former colleagues who left their city careers to pursue a life of fashion and art are reuniting to showcase their latest collections.

Designer Julie Edinburgh of womenswear label 51 North London, milliner Lisa Taylor of Taylor Red London and fine artist Philip Williams all worked together at a bank in the City. They’re holding an exhibition and pop-up shop in Redchurch St this week to launch their latest collections and artwork.

It’s the culmination of years of learning for the trio. After leaving the world of finance, Philip studied art for three years at Central Saint Martin’s, Lisa was trained by traditional milliner Rose Cory (who created pieces for the late Queen Mother) and Julie joined forces with Alejandra Limones, another city worker to develop a womenswear brand that’s gaining national recognition.

The event takes place from 11am till 7pm at 81 Redchurch St, E2 on September 27 and 28 (11am till 7pm) and on Sunday September 29 (12pm till 6pm). Local Buyers Club members save 10%.

Philip said: “Julie, Lisa and I are used to working together in a fast-paced, highly stressful corporate environment and have each made huge life changes to follow our passion for art and design. We’ve devoted years to studying and honing our creative skills to get to the point of launching collections or exhibiting our work and it’s wonderful to be joining forces again for this very special event. It’s great to have the old team back together!”

51 North London was recently featured in the Sunday Times Style Magazine and Taylor Red London has created bespoke hats for some of the UK’s most influential fashion bloggers and for England sporting heroes.

Guests at this week’s pop-up will be treated to an exclusive preview of their new collections and the chance to buy from their latest clothing and hat lines and Philip’s most recent paintings will also be exhibited.
