£10 from each new Local Buyers Club membership to go to Rohingya refugees

The Local Buyers Club is giving £10 from the sale of every new membership between now and Friday (September 15th) to a charity helping Myanmar’s Rohingya Muslims.

The tragedy unfolding in Myanmar has been described by aid agencies as “the worst humanitarian crisis of our time.” More than 270,000 Rohingya Muslims have fled for Bangladesh, 400,000 are trapped in conflict zones, hundreds have been killed and villages are being burned to the ground.

We’ve been researching which charities are best placed to help and have decided to support Human Appeal who are on the ground providing much-needed humanitarian assistance to displaced families sheltering in overcrowded camps on the Bangladeshi border.

Membership of the Local Buyers Club costs just £12 per year and includes a discount card which can be used at dozens of North and East London’s best local and independent businesses. They include: Andi's, Brooksby’s Walk, The Red Lion, The Clarence,  Stokey Bears, The Queens Crouch End, Wolf, The Rio Cinema, Arthouse Crouch End , The Prince pub, Green Room Café, Il Bacio, Drive Now, Rudie’s, Off Broadway, Bernstein’s, Rola Wala,  Earlybird Cards, Bernsteins Bar, SubCult, Claw, Clapton Craft, Clissold House, Lele's, L'Epicerie@56, Bournes, Off Broadway, Climpson and Son Café and many more.

Basil Fansa, a founder of the Club, said: “Necessities like food, water and shelter are in desperately short supply at the border camps. New members joining the Local Buyers Club this week will be helping to fund vital supplies for some of the world’s most persecuted people and hopefully saving lives.”
